Sumika IkedaJuly 8, 1926 ~ July 1, 2017 (age 90)
Sumi Ikeda passed way July 1, 2017 of heart disease. She was born July 8, 1926 to Hisaichiro and Kimino Hishikawa. Her family owned a small farm in Dee, Oregon. Sumi and her family were incarcerated at Tule Lake and later Minidoka along with other people of Japanese ancestry. After the war, she found a home in Portland. She married Saburo Ikeda and had three children. She was a homemaker and wonderful cook. She later helped her husband with his bakery business in Hillsdale. They were married for 54 years until Sab's death in 2004. Her son, Jerry, passed away in 2000.
She is survived by her sister, Yoko Iwata of Roseburg; her children, Marleen Wallingford and her husband, Roger and Ken Ikeda and his wife, Marlene; and her grandchildren, Kevin and Alyssa Wong and Matty and Toby Ikeda.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017 at Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Funeral Home.
