Josephine Ellen Lindner

May 6, 1929 ~ August 2, 2017 (age 88)

Josephine Ellen Lindner, 88, of Bend, OR, died suddenly on August 2, 2017. She was the second child born to Raymond and Helen Hansen, on May 6, 1929, in Portland, OR.

Jo graduated from Jefferson High School in 1947 and attended Lewis & Clark College in Portland.

She married Charles Lindner in 1950 and resided in Vancouver, WA, for 30 years before traveling the country, eventually settling in Crooked River Ranch, OR.

Jo’s passion in life was raising her four boys. She was known to many as “Saint Jo” for her patience and calm demeanor when dealing with “The Lindner Boys” and Charlie.

Jo loved to volunteer. She served as PTA president at Lake Shore Elementary School in the 1960s and was involved with the Red Cross blood drives.

Her husband, Charlie, retired at an early age and they took advantage of many outdoor activities in the Willamette Valley. Jo and her brothers and sister grew up on the Columbia River, building and racing sailboats. Her love of the river prompted Jo and Charlie to join the Columbia River Yacht Club.

Jo and Charlie became part of the Lance camping group and pulled a fifth wheel trailer to Arizona each winter. They took many camping trips with their friends in Central Oregoin and traceled the world, including trips to Hawaii, cruses to Panama and Alaska, and a memorable trip to Europe.

Jo is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles R. Lindner of Bend, OR; Larry (Jan) of Meridian, ID; Coe (Eileen) of Puyallup, WA; Bob (Linda) of Crooked River Ranch, OR; and Jack (Melinda) of Ridgefield, WA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

* In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to your local Humane Society.
