Darlene Joy (Rands) BagleySeptember 18, 1939 ~ May 27, 2017 (age 77)
Darlene Bagley gave it her all to the end of a long battle with cancer. Everyone who knows her can attest to her strength of will and love of her family and friends.
She was married to Robert (Bob) Bagley for over 46 years and both of them lived in the family home most of their married life in Gladstone Oregon. Darlene has two children, Lisa Messervy and Bruce Bagley, and a grandson Jordan Navas.
Darlene believed in hard work and commitment to family. She owned two businesses, B & K Tax Service with her partner Jan Kleppner and two 7 Eleven stores with husband Bob and son Bruce. She also worked full time as an accountant for over 30 years for the Wonder Bread Bakery in Portland.
Traveling was her true love and she was able to see a lot of the world and experience her passion of travel with her husband Bob, Bev and Jerry, Ginger, Lee and Roland, and grandson Jordan.
After Bob's passing in 2004 she became involved in quilting and joined a quilting group in Portland. Her quilts are beautiful works of art and if you were lucky enough to have one, they are to be treasured. She put her heart and soul into each one she made for the people she loved. She was inspired by Jane Kirkpatrick a local storyteller, author and quilter.
Reading is something she also was passionate about, and shared the love of books with her grandson, Jordan. She was interested in historical books, particularly native American and Western history. Her favorite author was James. A Michener and she had every one of his books.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 6 at 11am, with a lunch reception immediately following in the Chapel at Portland Memorial Funeral Homes.
