Virginia Rose (Benvenuto) MatichNovember 21, 1921 ~ June 3, 2017 (age 95)
Virginia was born in Portland to Salvatore (Sam) and Clara Benvenuto. She had two brothers Charles and Donald.
Virginia went to Boise grade school, Jefferson high school, Oregon state college and Portland state college. Virginia was in the Waves during World War II from 1943 thru 1945.
She married Nicholas Matich in 1947. They had one daughter, Nancy Matich.
Virginia was an English teacher at Oregon City high school and was involved in the AFS student foreign exchange program. She was also active in a Waves group called The Columbia River Ripples and participated in the Veteran's Day Parade's. Virginia was a Milwaukie resident for 65 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, her husband and daughter.
A service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, Oregon on Wednesday, June 28th, at 11:30 am. A celebration of life will be held at The Old Spaghetti Factory to share the memories of Virginia, from 12:30pm-3:30pm, at 12725 SE 93rd avenue, Clackamas, Oregon, lunch will be served.
