Sharron Faye (Easley) CoulsonJuly 28, 1939 ~ May 26, 2017 (age 77)
Sharron Coulson, aged 77, passed peacefully on May 26, 2017 in her home overlooking the river with family by her side, after a valiant fight with cancer. Sharron was born July 28, 1939, in Toppenish, Washington the daughter of Jack Easley and Mildred Merritt.
Sharron loved people. She was a lifetime member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She travelled the seven continents meeting new friends, fascinated with the history, cultures, and customs of the people and places that she visited. She carried the memory of those adventures and was eager to share all that she’d learned with her friends and family. To many she was known as “Auntie Mame” who was going to “show them the world” and how to “live, live, live” because “life’s a banquet”.
It was her love of people that lead her to become a social worker. Sharron worked for the Multnomah juvenile court for 30 years. However, social work was not just her profession; it was her heart’s purpose. As a powerful prayer warrior and one who’d tell you like it was, she was the one you wanted by your side as you struggled with life’s challenges as well as its many celebrations.
In 1980, she married Jerry Coulson and became another mom to his two daughters, Brenda and Denise. They both had a love for the water and chose to live on the Willamette River, in the Portland Rowing Club for over 25 years before moving to a nearby condo, never leaving their beloved river view. Travelling for Sharron and Jerry included yearly visits to Maui to escape the Portland rain and enjoy the sunshine and warm ocean water.
Family was always important to Sharron, both the family that she was born to as well as the family that she chose. All were welcome and loved by her dearly. Her daughters, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, as well as a multitude of cousins and close friends survive her.
The family will be holding a celebration of life at Milwaukie Covenant Church, 12201 SE Linwood Ave. Milwaukie, Oregon, on Sunday, June 4 at 2:00pm. Following the service at 4:00 pm, friends and family are invited to gather at the Milwaukie Elks Lodge to share in the memories and laughter as we continue celebrating the life of this amazing woman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent in her name to Kaiser Permanente Continuing Care Services 2701 NW Vaughn St #140 Portland, Oregon 97210.
