Helen Rewa King, died peacefully in her home, January 24th 2018.
Born in Portland Oregon October 8th 1916 to Russian immigrants, Stephen & Vera Rewa. She grew up in the Lents/Hawthorne area graduating from Washington high school. She attended Oregon State University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Home Economics in 1938. Her first position as a teacher, took her to remote eastern Oregon, where she taught in a one-room schoolhouse and lived with a family in a log cabin.
She met the love of her life, Lee Kipling King in 1939 and they married in 1941. Helen and Lee resided and raised their family in the Burlingame area of SW Portland. Lee and Helen were involved many years with the Portland Rose Society and the Royal Rosarians and the Laurelhurst Dance Club.
She traveled the world extensively and loved to Oil paint, Dance, Garden, Sewing, and Swimming.
Helen is survived by her son William (Bill) Kipling King his wife Cathy, 4 Grand children, Stephen Defree’s, Theresa Illnicky, Michael King, Nicholas King and 9 Great Grandchildren with another on the way.
Helen’s service will be held Saturday, February 10th, 1:30 pm at Savage Memorial Presbyterian church, 1740 SE 139th, Portland Oregon 97233.
