George E. Mallory Jr. passed away quietly and peacefully on Monday April 3rd 2017.

Born in Perry Oklahoma on July 11th 1938 to George Sr. and Leila Mallory. He was the eldest of four boys, brother to William, James and Robert. The family moved to Oregon in his childhood and resided in Vanport until the flood. They lived in South East Portland where he attended school, graduating from Cleveland High School. He joined the Army National Guard, and finished his military service within the Air Force Reserves.

He was married to Judith Lowe in October 1962, and they celebrated 54 years of marriage. He loved her greatly. He loved children, and was a wonderful father to his two daughters Shannon, Sherri and his son Casey. Years later, he was able to love and spoil his three grandchildren Nickolas, Alexander and Anastasia.

He was a sports fan, but the Oklahoma Sooners was his passion. He often sang the fight song while watching the football games.

Umpiring was another love, working with ASA doing softball games and tournaments for years.

George was also a Master Mason, completing his 33rd degree in the Scottish Rite. This carried on the wonderful family tradition that still is honored today. His father George Sr., brother William, son Casey, and son in law Ryan all are Masons.

He worked for the City of Portland for many years in several departments including the Parks department, Sewer, and Street department before retiring.

His family meant a great deal to George, and many friends considered him a father figure. He liked telling stories, jokes and making people feel comfortable and always welcome. His door was always open to drop in for a visit, and his generosity and kindness was always evident.

George’s Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 14th at 11a.m. A military honor ceremony will be held on a later date at Willamette National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made in George’s name to The Masonic Grand Lodge Educational Assistance Fund. Masonic Grand Lodge of Oregon, 2150 Masonic Way, Forest Grove Or. 972116
