Donald Grant McLaughlinApril 2, 1927 ~ October 29, 2017 (age 90)
Donald G. McLaughlin was born in Independence, OR to Charles Grant McLaughlin and Iantha Hartman McLaughlin. He grew up in Independence & Salem, OR. Moved to Portland in 1953.
A Veteran of the U.S. Navy, stationed in San Diego, CA.
He met June Ward on a blind date, were married shortly after. They were married almost 60 years till June passed away in June 2007.
He started in the wallboard trade in 1953 and worked that trade for 40 years with The Carpenters and Painters Unions.
His hobbies were fishing, hunting ,hiking, making fly fishing poles,collecting baseball hats(over 1500 in all).
Don was very friendly to everyone. He loved talking to strangers and making new friends. He enjoyed helping family & friends with their projects.
Don was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church since 1975.
He was predeceased by his parents, twin brother Deb, brothers Tom and Kenneth, and sister Ileta.
He is survived by his daughter Kathy(Jim) Hatton, son Ken McLaughlin, son Curtis (Barbara) McLaughlin;
grandchildren, Rachel, Andy, Karen, David ,Laura, Jason, and Aron; 8 great-grandchildren. Don will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Prince of Life Lutheran Church,
13896 S. Meyers Rd, Oregon City, OR 97048. A lunch reception to follow at the church.
